Water Heaters: Tank vs. Tankless
The tank water heater is still a no-nonsense option. Then there is the tankless or on-demand variety, which gives you hot water to spare, though there are things to think about. They draw more gas BTU at the point of firing and are dependent on electricity, so a power outage will leave you without hot water. Some models will also dictate changes to your venting or gas service. If uninterrupted hot water is a must, we would advise having a backup plan in place for outages.
Sump Pumps & Well Pumps
You rely on sump pumps to keep ground water out of your basement or crawlspace. Being sealed electric units, they are usually replaced on failure rather than put back together. A tripped GFCI or water where it does not belong are tell-tale signs of trouble. We install proper check valves and alarms to guard against backflow or repetitive cycling.
With well pumps, be it submersible or jet, a drop in house pressure is the first indication of a problem. Where the well water is high in minerals, softening and good filtration are a form of prevention that will preserve the pump and keep pressure steady for your home or business.
Water Softeners & Filtration
Left to its own devices, hard water will put scale on your fixtures and cut short the life of your appliances and valves. A whole-house softener or a quality filtration system puts a stop to the mineral debris that causes damage. A carbon or multi-cartridge filter will also take care of many chemicals and improve the taste of the water.
