Clogged Drains and Sewer Lines
A full-house stoppage is often the result of roots or non-flushable wipes. Our crew will employ mechanical cutters, camera inspection, or hydro jetting (1500–3500 psi) to clear out any grease. With an old cast-iron system showing root intrusion or multiple failures, however, we will often recommend a complete replacement. It is the most dependable way to sidestep future costs and the need for repeated service calls.
Toilets That Won’t Flush or Run
In most cases, a new flapper or fill valve will put an end to a running toilet. But if an older model is not flushing well due to calcium, it is usually better to replace the unit entirely to get rid of the buildup in the trap. We see many make the upgrade to an elongated or higher chair-height for the sake of comfort and function.
Bathtub and Shower Drips
A dripping faucet or shower typically requires a new stem, diverter or cartridge. If you are in the midst of a remodel, we suggest pressure-balanced valves to guard against scalding should the water pressure fluctuate elsewhere in the house. We put the same care into the installation to make sure the job is done properly, and your property is protected.
Sewer Leak Diagnosis
We use hydrostatic test balls and cameras to isolate trouble spots under the house. A small sewer leak left to its own devices can erode the soil and cause voids that compromise the foundation. Prompt diagnosis spares vacation rentals and commercial properties from major water damage and the expense of larger repairs down the road.
Hydro Jetting Compared to Mechanical Rodding
For heavy buildup, particularly in the lines of a commercial kitchen, there is no better way to clean the pipe walls than the pressure-washing action of hydro jetting.
Given its power, we are cautious about jetting on older cast-iron pipes and will only do so when the condition of the pipe is right. An inspection by our team is the way to go to determine the best approach for quality workmanship and plumbing.
Gas Lines and Safety
When it comes to major gas line work, we put safety first. We will shut off the gas, pressure-test any repairs, and have inspections done as needed. There are instances with flex or specialty gas piping where you need manufacturer certification for a proper install; an uncertified job can be a safety hazard and void warranties. We stick to best practices in installation and repair to avoid that.
Tank vs Tankless Water Heaters
Tankless units are popular for their seemingly endless supply of hot water, but they put out higher BTUs and drive up gas demand when firing. Electric versions may necessitate a sizeable electrical upgrade and we don’t usually put them in unless the home’s service can handle it. Before we make a recommendation for a replacement to suit your household or business, we look at what you have in place with your venting and gas and run through the pros and cons.
Filtration and Water Softeners
Mineral buildup and hard water take their toll on the life of valves and fixtures. The right whole-home filter or a well-sized softener will cut down on scale and give your appliances more years of service. We factor in the number of bathrooms and fixtures to get the sizing right, as well as plan for the best location, be it the utility area or garage, to route the incoming lines.
