Hydro-Jetting and Sewer Lines
Tree roots, non-flushable items, and old pipes with bellies are the usual culprits behind a sewer stoppage. A camera and a good cleaning can clear most of these up. For kitchen lines with heavy grease, we find hydro-jetting to be very effective at scouring the pipe back to a clean surface, though we would not recommend it for brittle cast-iron. Repeated backups or a sewage smell means it is time for an inspection. We also evaluate septic systems for those on private setups.
Sewer Repair Strategy
The approach to a sewer repair will be dictated by the state and make-up of the pipe. In the case of cast-iron or piping that has seen better days, we generally advise replacing the entire run over making the same spot repair time and again. A targeted dig-and-replace is workable for an isolated bad spot in a PVC line. Water Heaters and Tankless Systems

For a large household, the ability of a tankless system to supply hot water on demand is a distinct advantage, though one must factor in the different requirements for venting, gas and electrical, which can mean some system changes.
